Jessie Sears, a proud member of the Karuk tribe, is a producer, director and cinematographer based in Portland, Oregon. She’s currently a full-time producer/director for Oregon Public Broadcasting, producing stories for Oregon Field Guide, Oregon Experience, and Art Beat. She focuses on the experiences and voices of Indigenous communities across the region, with her recent film First Descent: Kayaking the Klamath winning the 2025 NW Regional Emmy award for Topical Documentary.
Jessie is the co-producer for The Caldera, a documentary examining the complexities surrounding a proposed lithium mine in southeastern Oregon. Her previous work includes collaboration on Undamming Klamath, a film celebrating the Indigenous-led movement behind the largest river restoration in history.
Across her diverse portfolio of documentary, commercial, and narrative projects, Jessie interlaces themes of human connection and our interconnectedness with nature, driven by a commitment to be of service to under-represented communities with powerful stories to share.
